Hi,
I plan on building a PC for the first time very soon and I would appreciate it if someone gave some feedback on this build. Thanks 😉

1.
I'll be using the PC for gaming (Skyrim, Aion, Starcraft2, Diablo 3 - At least high settings - Not worried about maxed settings), video editing (After effects), streaming and recording games (twitch, fraps etc)

2. Budget: My budget is $600

3. Location: US - Seattle, WA

5. Brand Preference: No preference but I prefer AMD since it's a bit of a budget build.

6. Parts I don't Need: Keyboard, mouse, OS and monitor

7. No plans on OCing

8. Resolution: 1920x1080

9. I plan on buying the items within the next few days/weeks (of August)

You'll be fine playing the games, but don't count on smooth real-time capture. Even PCs made with double the budget can run into performance problems trying to play and capture on the same PC, depending on how demanding the game is.

IMO, the 6-core AM3+ will be better, overall, than saving on a 4-core. You get more cache, and 2 more threads, both of which could substantially aid in recording and video encoding (the games themselves will top out at 3 threads, though). No need for AS5, either. The CPU HSF will have paste pre-applied.

The Sapphire 7870 and cheaper RAM are definitely good to get, though.

Far cheaper, and fits your needs. With those 72 extra dollars, you can upgrade the other parts of your build.

Don't forget that Bulldozer-derived processors like Trinity only have half the fully-functional cores as is advertised. So the 740 is really more comparable to a dual-core than a quad-core. I agree with Cerb, for any kind of capture PC, you want as many cores as possible.
