maybe i should've had the same clocks for both but i forgot to take a screenshot last time.

Before flashing, i had the 9800np to 400/330 and it scored around 5483 3Dmarks

after flashing, my memory was autmatically set to 333 so my overal clock was 400/333 which produced 6056 3Dmarks

now in ur judgment, does 3 mhz of memory give u 600 points?? ;)

so you are the newest to this board who has flashed 9800np to 9800p. so tell me, how long did it take u? and are you still using the stock heatsink and fan or the zalman. and what steps would you reccomend to do a perfect 9800np tweak to the best of your knowledge.

PS: where did u get your 9800 np sapphire? newegg i assume?

many thanks.

Flashing took less that 1 min but finding out how to flash took an hour .
I'm using a Vantec iceberq4 VGA cooler with 8 tweakmonster BGA RAMsinks.
My card is a Saphire 9800NP from Newegg.com which has 3.3ns Samsung memory.

for my whole process of tweaking, fixing, and flashing click here

Hmm, I'm going to flash my Dell 9800np w/Samsung 2A chips to the pro bios tonight. I'll run 3DMark at 380/340, and maybe a higher speed, before and after. Will let you guys know how it goes.

when the 9800np is flashed into a 9800p, does it just makes it easier to overclock or does the core and memory speed of the card changes to a pro. if so, is it ok to keep the stock fan if you are just flashing the bios and not overclocking manually? many thanks.

Here's a stupid question:

Why can't ya just OC the NP? Is it locked? What's the point of flashing the BIOS? Does the pro BIOS give higher core and mem voltages by default?

Here's a stupid question:

It's not that stupid. I'm wondering myself. I've had a Sapphire 9800np for about a week running between 380/330 and 400/340 stable with 3.3 Samsung and the stock HSF WITHOUT flashing to a Pro BIOS. It appears these cards clock to (stock) Pro speeds even without the Pro BIOS, so what's the reason of flashing? If I'm not mistaken, the only difference between the Pro and the NP is the type/speed RAM used onboard, and the corresponding speeds associated with the specific RAM chips, right?

at almost same clock speeds, a flash generated 600 more points! fancy that

But it doesn't make sense that flashing the bios and keeping the clock speeds the same would buy you anything. Either you're gaining something else in flashing the bios, or the bechmarking is flawed. I take it there's nothing about these 9800's that makes the core or mem clock difficult to unlock. It's common knowledge (although possibly wrong) that the only diff. between np and pro is clock speed. I would need a good reason to flash the BIOS. And that reason wouldn't be because "it's faster", I would need to know specifically WHY it's faster. Thanks for any insight.

i don't know...this is just my experience. i don't even suggest flashing, just wait a while, until ur vga card feels slower.
