$60/quart oil in the Ferrari Enzo!

StageLeft

No Lifer
Wowsers - I actually got my first car and driver in the mail. They were lent an Enzo by a 77 year old in NC. The guy owned it for a month and put already 1200 miles on it. He'd already burned through a set of rotors ($24,000) and brake pads ($6,000) and the oil on this thing costs $60/quart. DayUM.

The verdict by the C&D writer was that if the enzo isn't the car of your dreams you're having the wrong dreams.

The first wanker that comes in here and starts ravin' about how a turbo Lingenfelter Vette is better than an Enzo is gonna have this happen to him:

OWNAGE

The Enzo is drool on wheels. The McLaren F1 is a 5-girl/1-guy orgy.

1200 Miles and it's killed a set of rotors and pads??? What the hell is that guy doing to that poor car? 🙁 I'd hope that with that low of milage, he's putting some severe track time on it...

I remember your original post on the Enzo, NFS4 and agree with you 100%. Those comparisons are........

Half of it was track time 🙂

Ok ok then, that makes more sense. 600 miles of hammering on the brakes, seems much more understandable... good to know he doesn't keep the car for show!

Seriously.

I bet it's no different than your regular synthetic oil, just with a HUGE markup because it has the Ferrari name on it or something.

AFAIC, AMSOil makes the best synthetic commercially available.. and it's 8$/quart. I don't see how oil can be 60$/quart.

Sounds like one of those things where the government pays 50$ for a box of paperclips.

I find enzo to be really ugly.

who knows what kinda oil it is.. it could be oil from a geeks face for all I know. Just imagine harvesting that much oil...

That car is damn sexy. Get rid of the air vents on the hood, behind the front wheel wells, and the lower ones infront of the rear whell wells and you have the best car ever made.

Screw looks! This is all that truly matters!

What is it with you and air vents. The vents are NECESSARY for cooling/venting/aerodynamics. You CAN'T get rid of them without f*&king up the car in a major way.

Whoa! That is a nice looking engine bay.

While the oil seems expensive to say the least, just curious why someone who could afford an Enzo would care...

🙂

No offense, but I think with a car that costs that much, you're not going to use oil meant for normal street cars. Do you think that, say, CART's racecars use off the shelf oil? I'd think that the cost of an oil that's meant to be pumped through a V12 that revs past 8000RPM (plus it's dry sump, isn't it?) would be a tad more expensive than 8 bucks a quart 😉

Not a big fan of the Enzo. The black car in the background of that pic looks much better, IMO. 🙂

I don't.

It's the only thing that makes sense. Oil doesen't cost 60$/quart.. nomatter how you look at it.
