How are Sony KDL60EX500 vs Samsung LN60C630

Are they the same panel? They both go for about 2k CDN up here..

Throw in the Sharp LC60LE810UN (Quatron a Gimmick? Local LED?) and Sony KDL60EX700 (not local LED), these two are about 500 extra

Alternate suggestions within the 2500 CDN and under price range are appreciated! We are kind of against Plasma as the viewing material will mostly be shitty tv signal, lots of static image right in a bright room

Quatron is stupid...why do you think LCD is going to be better for shitty tv? Oakville is ROGERS territory right? that does suck.

how far are you sitting?

I would go smaller and get a better TV or up your budget to $2,500 - $3000.

Calm down... Cogeco territory

We have Bell HD, HD Antenna .... but my parents mostly watch south asian programming which is SD

We already have a Sharp 52", they mainly are looking for the size increase because we sit about 12ft away

So... budget won't change and neither will size requirement of 60+

You should wait until you can increase your budget a bit.

Also a lot of the newer LEDs have the same glare problems as plasmas.

If we wait the budget won't change, budget is fixed... the first two TV's I linked aren't even LED

We are probably buying on boxing day anyway

Does anyone have comments on actual tv's?

Sources are mainly 720p or less, but TV must be 1080p unless the tv is 720p and still actually quite an upgrade

we got shitty pricing this side of the border so... and LCD prices increase exponentially as you go bigger. You are in projector territory at that price point.

Don't projectors rely on controlled lighting? Which isn't in that room because Mattamy decided on the biggest windows on the planet. We also have no real place to mount this projector

TV's exist in our price range, its just a question of which one is the best value...

Can't help you there. Biggest flat panel I have is a Viera 50" 720p. It looks pretty good from 15' away. Bell Expressvu, WD HD Live and BRD are the sources.
