Another domino falls. Paramount poised to make them bend the knee to the king like ABC News did before them, despite Trump having no case.

Worse, the network's independence now appears over as it heads to becoming a Trump mouth piece.

"But the president's open rancor toward 60 Minutes looms over all. Corporate parent Paramount and its controlling owner, Shari Redstone, are seeking the approval of federal regulators to sell it to the son of Oracle founder Larry Ellison. The billionaire software mogul is a friend of Trump who visited the president at the White House earlier this year."

Wouldn't matter if they did. Trump's regulators would have to approve it. That is likely the whole point to Paramount forcing CBS to settle despite there being no case. Kissing the ring so the regulators approve of the sale. But if the sale was to Soros or something then no amount of kissing the ring would be enough.

CBS looks to become the X of broadcast media—especially after the sale to Ellison.

Throw the hat in there and tie shit up. The courts have not been too friendly to Trump. Fucking use your money

People got mad when the light of wisdom that shown in our political system, thanks to momentum against the evils of conservative thinking, began to awaken sufficient self reflection in a growing number of voters, that those very evils were actually dear to them and they responded with a desire to go back to the good old days of the dark ages where the behaviors that were causing them that growing guilt and shame were perfectly acceptable.

Self hate always sabotages truth and light because we are not consciously aware we actually feel too worthless to deserve it and because we don’t want to know that we are perpetually fucked. This is the truth we won’t see. Only you can be the exception.

Had an annual subscription to Paramount+.

Operative word HAD, as I have since cancelled and since they asked why I was cancelling, I made the reason very clear. Kiss the ring, you can kiss my ass.

Well, it's completely open now that CBS, at one time one of the most liberal of the broadcast TV networks, had long given up the ghost.

Government approval is needed for the deal Paramount wants to happen because it's between two media companies. What about a purchase by someone without a media company? Does that fall under the government's purview? I mean if it doesn't I'm sure the Trump administration would try to put up roadblocks for anybody buying a major media company they didn't agree with, but if they don't have the regulatory rights already, that would slow them down even more.

Fack, I went to cancel mine and realized it just renewed on March 26 (annual subscription). They do not offer partial refunds (that’s the whole reason the annual plan is discounted.) I do share it with someone but we agreed to cancel and avoid the auto renew next year.

That sucks, my renewal was last summer, so mine will end in a few months.

After doing so, I got an email confirming the cancellation, which I've archived, and made a calendar entry to watch my CC to make sure they don't turn auto-renew back on.

Holy shit I don't think Scott Pelley is long for this network with a callout like that. Talk about calling a spade a fucking spade!

And they were doing so well lately. I have been a fan of the show for the last 50 years. If Trump screws this up he will have a legion of angry people, but then it is probably mostly people like me who were already very angry at him. I didn’t know that Ellisons were trumpers, but it is not surprising.
