I recently (and by recently, I mean yesterday) purchased a Nikon D5200. I noticed that it has options to record video at either 60 FPS at 1080i, or 24 or 30 FPS with 1080p.

I have been able to look up the differences between interlaced and progressive, but given the difference between the FPS, would someone please tell me which setting I would be better served to use, and why?

I'd go with 30 FPS and 1080p personally. I tend to prefer progressive over interlaced.

But if I was you, I'd go outside and do your best to film something with all 3 settings and look for yourself.

If you go TOO fast, you don't get enough motion blur, and it actually looks worse.

I thought there's nothing worse than motion blur.... I would rather see a great picture with some stutter....
