I'm looking to spend $60 on a KB/Mouse combination for my HTPC.

i'm deciding between the Logitech Desktop Wave and the Microsoft 6000 v2.

Has anyone looked at any of these? what do you like/dislike about each?

Forget yall, too slow! jk

ended up getting the Logitech Desktop Wave from Amazon for $60.

For those of you who have it, what do you like/dislike about it?

I dunno if how similar that mouse is to the laser mouse that came with my Logitech keyboard, but it doesn't work well on my coffee table. Once I move it off the table to my lap or the couch, it's fine. It's not because the table is shiny -- mouse clicks don't register sometimes.

If I were to do it all over again, I'd get one of those keyboards with built in trackball or trackpad instead so that I don't need any mousing surface.

On the coffee table it's about 7-8 ft away and then maybe 10 ft when used on the couch. Receiver is on the TV stand about the same height as the coffee table.

Both mouse clicks and movement doesn't register sometimes so I'm certain it's not due to the radio not being powerful enough because it works fine when further away. I don't know what causes it to be honest. Maybe it is the glossy surface interfering with the radio -- who knows. But then again the table is just wood, maple to be exact, with acrylic coating on top. Maybe it absorbs the signal more than the textile material on the couch.

The Logitech LX 310 combo looks like what I have.

i'll be about 10 feet away from the receiver, whats the best way to improve reception with the KB/Mouse?

Even my diNovo Edge (it was a present :p) misses some key presses from time to time, only 3-5 feet from the receiver. That's just wireless mice and keyboards in general from my experience, though the G7 I used was nearly perfect.

If it makes you feel better, my boss has the Wave set and I absolutely love it. I haven't used a more comfortable keyboard in my life, and the mouse is pretty nice too. That textured soft plastic they use is so nice.

If you want distance with wireless keyboards then look for bluetooth devices, that will get you about 20-30ft . Regular wireless keyboards are a crap shoot as to how far they work from the receiver. One thing you can do is to modify the receivers. Often the only antenna the receiver has is a trace on the circuit board. Soldering a wire about 4 inches, too long and it will harm reception, to the internal antenna point. That can often give you bluetooth like range.

For HTPC keyboards I like the mini keyboards with trackball mouse built in to the keyboard.
