60.85 Wow

I just installed this forceware driver 60.85 over 56.72 on my 5900xt and it gave me 2343 more points on 3dmark (FutureMark)
Is this possible? It ran the bench MUCH smoother even thru the troll section. It also fixed the hanging problem Media player 9 was giving me. I am so-far, one happy camper

Maybe your 56.72 drivers were not properly installed. The 6x.xx drivers do boost a significant amount of performance in certain games, but I'm not sure about 3dmark.

BTW, just so noone else gets confused, he has the 5900XT not 9500XT.

Maybe Nvidia is doing the famous sacrifice IQ or optimizing (IE ATI!!!) tricks to score higher numbers....

Could be a joke or not!!!!...

It does sound like the drivers had issues already and may be the reason for the poor scores....I haven't heard anyone else raving about score increases like that at 3dguru....

Farcry does improve dramatically with 61.11 and 61.12 drivers. I'm really looking forward to the WHQL versions of those..

Something was wrong with your old setup. I did the test on a 5900

56.72- 6610

60.85- 6535

Maybe your 56.72 drivers were not properly installed.

you can screw up an automated install?

god knows I have bad luck but driver installs have never screwed up for me

I didn't screw up the origional install of the drivers, they came right from the NV WS. The old NV drivers were removed before installing the aforementioned. I don't know why the big difference in performance, but it's true and I am really digging it.

Another thing with these beta drivers I have serious game issues. In far cry all the islands are light blue no color. And UT2003 I get ground streaks. Maybe you have better luck but I'm changing back.

My FC runs fine so far. No color errors or streaks evident as you mentioned. Not only does FC release quicker, SimCity4 also releases much quicker. I no longer have to wait for the game to quit 'owning" my HD after I end the game. My HD releases much quicker now.

I haven't had any issues with them yet. Speed wise, they're about the same (6900 3dmark03). Haven't noticed any big differences in them yet.

That's lovely but I'd really be interested in hearing the performance gains (if any) in real games.

I can also confirm that the WMP9 hang issue is fixed.

I prefer the 61.11 drivers to the 60.85, they give me a bigger performance increase esp with x2 the threat and far cry etc!
