:hmm: Thats not that far from me. Maybe I'll go to the internet party. If its $60k now I'm sure it'll be kickass. I wonder if I can start a kickstarter to cover the gas?

Nice. That looks like a bit of a logistical nightmare.

300 people to hang out with them in the kitchen to watch, more than 1000 people to receive 1 bite each of the salad, and more than 750 hats, Tshirts, or books to ship out.

Still.....$60k.

I wonder how many people try the same thing and never make it -- at least, I hope that's the case, otherwise, what the hell am I going to work for? I'd start a new "feed me" kickstarter daily.

Unfortunately. I wish this were at least an attempt to raise awareness of the ramifications of KS having no vetting process over the projects anymore, or why uncapped funding doesn't always make sense, but I'm pretty sure it isn't. Just a dumb joke that someone's cashing in on, but will probably end up being a nightmare to actually deliver (and will probably end up in a lot of unfulfilled pledges, of which I'm sure at least some people will whine about despite it being a gag)

The worst part about this is how much KS is going to be flooded with copycats trying to make easy money on other joke projects. Of course, most of those will earn next to nothing.

Which they should earn next to nothing ... hopefully we stop seeing these gag KS's.

They'll earn next to nothing and we'll see them drop for a while and people will forget about viral KS gags. But the people looking to make it big on this won't forget and someone will come up with something even sillier and also more stupid and pointless, and the cycle will complete.

But I don't envy this particular guy because he didn't intend for this and doesn't look prepared. What I think will happen is he'll fail spectacularly trying to fulfill much of the pledges, either burning the money trying or spending too much of it on other things before he realizes he needed it. Most of the backers won't care because they were just doing it to feel like they're part of a meme and don't want to look stupid by taking it seriously. But clickbait "news" sites will report it on how it failed and it'll further shake the collective confidence people have in crowd funding.

Fail: at no point do you get to eat bacon, there isn't even a pizza party.

wow that kickstarter is a disgrace to bacon, if i was an idiot, i would give more money to the potato salad person in spite of that bacon person. luckily, im not a complete idiot with more money than brains. and i dont mean that those people are rich, i just mean they have very little brains.

I'd pay $100k for my mom's potato salad recipe. One of the huge regrets in my life, not knowing the recipe while she was still alive.

And here I am eating expired food...

Perhaps I need to get a kickstarter to fund repairs for my car, plus gas, and expenses to travel to this potato salad party so I can enjoy some fresh new food.

Currently, 325 people get to choose a potato salad appropriate ingredient. I'm not sure 325 appropriate ingredients exist.

Beware.
