Before anyone gets flared up, the father drove away and the cops never knew about the kid. I live in Louisiana and saw what happened.

The cops should have just got run over? The father put his child in danger.

If I understand the article correctly, the kid's father backed up and rammed the police vehicle. They then got out of their vehicle and opened fire.

I'm not following the logic of exiting the police vehicle to place themselves in harms way as an excuse to open fire. Did they think he was a danger to others?

It doesn't help the family now that the media is pushing this to further their agendas.

You must have good eyesight! :)

Aren't police supposed to know what they are shooting at?

no.

just shoot first, shoot some more, shoot again and when everyones dead try to ask questions.

i guess their life was in danger.

moving out the way of a car is a cowards way out.

they deescalated with extreme prejudice.

It was for a friggin warrant!!!
Was it worth it?????

Don't the police have training that would reflect the possiblity that there might be others in the truck and they should be careful ?????

I'm fairly anti-cop, but running from the cops with your child in the car is probably a bad idea all around. The father is to blame.

I think the blame should be on the father, rather than the police, because they make mistakes too. If he didn't run this wouldn't have happened. We can't excuse the crime.

It's the police who have the GUNS they shouldn't act negligent

No possibility that more than one party is to blame for the child's death?

They did what they felt was the right decision. Personally I disagree with what they did but what happened happened. The father should have made a better decision, considering that he had a kid in the car with him.

It was for a friggin warrant and it wasn't worth it.

They didn't become hostile over a warrant, and he shouldnt' have attacked the officers over a warrant.

You're right. Life is precious, but consider what would have happened if he had sped away with the kid. There would have been a police chase and more people would have been hurt.

Do you think the cops started shooting because of the warrant? They started shooting (allegedly) because of the perp ramming their car.
