6-in-1 Card reader: for Matsonic/ECS/PCchips Motherboards only?

I'm looking at this card reader. It's an internal 6-in-1 reader, just the type I'd like. But it says that it's only good in an ECS board. What happens if I buy this and plug it into my Shuttle system, then install the driver?
 
I would check the pinout of the connector and match it to the pinout of your board's connector. It's pretty easy to rearrange the pins if you need to.

XP likely won't need any drivers for it.
