6-Core Gulftown vs. Upcoming Sandy Bridge

A friend of mine is building a computer for video editing in Adobe Premiere Pro and is wondering whether he should buy the Core i7 980x now or wait for an upcoming Sandy Bridge processor? He's unconcerned about money and is only concerned about pure performance so should he wait or buy now? Thanks.

i7 now...
I don't think anyone expects the graphics on SB to be competitive with discrete graphics cards, and that is what he'd want for running Premier Pro properly.
