6 channel audio on mobo's that have "6 channel codec"

I have an MSI Neo FISR2 and it has spots on the mobo for Front L/R speakers, Rear L/R speakers, and center speaker, so my Klipsch 5.1 speakers hook right up. I'm considering a P4 system with the ICH5 southbridge (6 channel codec), specially the p4p800-vm mATX board. It says it supports 6 channel audio but I only see sound in, sound out, and mic. Would I have to have a SPDIF connection to an audio receiver to get it to work? Thanks.

Your Klipsch 5.1's will use the speaker for front, line out for rear, and mic for center/speaker most likely.

Sorry man, but if you have Klipsch 5.1s, you need to buy yourself a soundcard.

Unless you have onboard Soundstorm. ;)

Yes. Soundstorm. This discontinued product...which he DOESN'T seem to have. So, in this case, get a decent soundcard.
This board uses the C-media 6788

Soundstorm is only useful if you're using the SPIDF, otherwise it's plain ol' crappy onboard sound.
