Oh, FFS... This means the S4 will be >5". and the S4 "Mini" will be ~4.5". And everyone else will trade in their clown shoes for bigger clown shoes to compete. And Android will be further ruined by this ridiculous spec arms-race between OEMs.

Google, get your house in order.

Eh, why not? All tablets should just include full phone functionality anyway.

Ideally, one should be able to switch their phone/data service from one device to the other, or just have the same service plan on multiple devices. There are days I'd love having a 7" or 10" tablet with me, that's also my phone so I could leave the actual phone at home. Other days, I just want my phone with me and not a tablet.

Building a big phone = choice, but building a smaller phone is not choice? I also appreciate choice, but where's the smaller phones with equivalent specs?

I thought you weren't one for the Spec arms race in android? All you need is a dual core.

Runs pretty smooth to me.

you can get in in 4", 4.65", 4.8" and 5.5".. seems like a good bit of choice to me. The S2 is getting Jelly bean and an update so you can get a phone at 4.3" too.

HTC, Moto and Nokia make different sized phones too, but the bigger ones always have better specs.

Same with Apple. 3.5" phones get A5, while the 4" one gets A6. Same with the tablets. So....

Google Voice and Groove IP. Turns your tablet into a phone that uses your same number. Learn. Use. Enjoy. :)

I'm with you. Will see if this is true and if so it's a viable tablet replacement. I'd rather carry one device than two.

This is the reason I still treasure my original 7" Galaxy Tab. I love that it can take my Straight Talk AT&T sim and double as a phone/tablet. There's only handful of tablets with working cell radio for voice calls. I wish another modern tablet had this ability so I could upgrade my Tab.

The $300 Nexus 7 doesn't have that capability?

Well the iPad has apps similar to Groove IP which is on Android, so any iOS or Android tablet that had 3G/4G could easily be used as a phone.

Yeah, but like the iPod Touch, the iPad typically has terrible mic placement. You'd have to use BT or a wired headset to talk normally.

If they put a 6000mah battery into a 6.3" Note I would definitely buy.

Nope. Only supports data, not voice calls. The original GSM 7" Galaxy Tab and GSM 7.7 AMOLED Galaxy Tab are the only two tablets I know with native voice calling capability.

It says "Samsung‘s stylus-enabled “phablets” are set to get even bigger, sources in South Korea claim, with the Galaxy Note III tipped to have a whopping 6.3-inch display when it arrives in 2013."

But doesn't give a link to any source. I doubt it'll be 6.3", probably 5.7", similar size to the Note 2 but remove a bit of the bezel to increase the screen.

They could do 4" Galaxy S4 Mini, 5" Galaxy S4 and 6" Galaxy Note.
Would make nice product placement.

Not really sure I'd want any bigger than my Note 2's proportions. I've got reasonably big hands and can grip it good enough to make calls semi-comfortably. Any bigger and I'd be starting to have some hand cramps on any call longer than a few minutes. Plus it's just on the edge of fitting in most of my pants pockets. Any larger and it's would be past that point of comfort.

Would not buy at that size.
