For what it's worth, I've had no trouble putting a Note or Note II in my pocket. I don't have skinny jeans in my pants collection though.

I somehow doubt this 6.3" rumor, but I know I'm excited to see the what the next version brings.

I say bring it on! Note 2 is already too big for me. So 6.3 Note 3 would be the same. But I'm interested in Samsung's take. I personally think Note 2 is the best phone of this generation. I would totally rock one if I worked in an office environment.

Why not just put a speaker on the Nexus 7 and make your calls?

It's not an issue to put in many people's pockets I understand. Come on. We have guys pockets. I stick a can of coke there sometimes when I'm stealing some extra drinks from meetings. I used to stuff my Canon Powershot G3 in my pockets. It's doable, but doesn't mean it's the best way. Large phones might fit, but it's a giant footprint. I see more and more people carrying their Notes on their belts while iPhone users continue to pocket carry.

Furthermore, 6.3" is just ergonomically ridiculous. While the screen is nice, to use in 1 handed operation, these large phones are significantly more difficult than smaller phones.

Heh, I call people all the time when I'm on the Nexus 10 at home (Groove IP). The awesome thing is that I even receive calls on it while I'm using it. Beats having to put the tablet down and go use my phone. ;)

Personally I think my GS3 is the perfect size for me. I have pretty big hands, so using it with one hand is easy. I am jealous of the pen features of the note and I think it is a great device, but I can't carry something that size.

However, there are plenty of people who can and do carry the note, so if they don't mind carrying 6.3, I don't see why they shouldn't make it. The note would most definitely fit in my pockets though.

This doesn't seem possible (or desirable). I'm hoping it's some sort of tablet/music player thing.

6.3" with a flexible screen would be sweet!

my note 2 fits easily in my jeans, work pants, jogging pants, shirt pocket and coat pocket. no problems at all even in the case i put it in (which i'm guessing makes it almost as large as the note 3 will be if this rumour is true)

i just hope they have a stand built into the case this time. it's the only reason i put one on myself

I love my Note but even to me 6.3 inches seems a little ludicrous. Still, it's just a rumour so I'm not really going to put much credence in it.

Sounds awful.

Agree with above comment of just making Nexus 7 a phone if you are going to do this.

So don't buy it. People who don't have those problems will.

There's still a world of difference in usability between a 4.7" screen and a 7" one. 6.3" and 7"? Not so much.

On my daily train commute, I see tons of people with GS3s (and somewhat surprisingly, even a few with Galaxy Nexii) and very few with either version of the Note. This is anecdotal, of course, but I'm hoping that means that the GS3 is the largest screen size that will appeal to the masses for a smartphone.

So far I've see one Note in the wild. Many have the iPhone 5 and some the Galaxy S III.

Yeah anecdotal.

How about some non-anecdotal evidence?

Last reports in November said 5 million Note IIs sold in 2 months, and that was before it even hit Verizon. Not bad for an over sized niche product.

Five million people and counting appreciate having a choice.

Building a big phone = choice, but building a smaller phone is not choice? I also appreciate choice, but where's the smaller phones with equivalent specs?

I don't know, you'll have to ask the manufacturers. But this is a thread about the Note, a big phone.
