6.25% interest on a checking account $100.00 minimum **added a second deal**

I know this will not be for everyone. This is a 2 part deal.
Pcbanker.com has (and has had for a while) 6.25% on their online checking account (100.00 minimum to avoid fees). I've been looking for a cd to put my tax refund in...best I could find was 5 to 5 1/2 %. Then I found this... higher interest and I'm not locked in like a CD. They are an FDIC insured bank and the online side of American Bank of allentown PA.

Second part: I signed up thru gomez.com and they are giving $37.50 for opening a pcbanker.com account. Must be funded with 500.00 for 90 days. I was gonna open an account just for the interest rate...this is just a bonus.

Pcbanker.com (american bank) does charge you if you write more than 15 checks/month.

Like I said.. not for everyone.. but I was just looking to put my tax refunds (plus some cash over the next year or so) until I use the money for my car downpayment.

that's pretty good. very nice rate for a checking account, especially with just a $100 minimum balance. better rate than many 3-year CD's at most banks.

just to clarify... there is a referer program for gomez too if you know anyone to put in for it. I didn't see the pcbanker.com referal... but don't know anyone with an account anyways... and I can't say put me down... no referals allowed here. If you haven't used gomez before... I have.. (got the usabancshares 100.00 free last year) they paid me last year so they are reputable... took a while to get the check and it took 'em awhile to answer my emails.

There is also a gomez deal for Netbank.com. open new account with 50.00 for 30 days and gomez will send you 50.00 check 8 to 10 weeks later. Beware netbank charges 3.00/month inactivity fee (after 3 months of inactivity) so get the deal and then get out.

if you're not familiar with gomez... go to gomez.com then click "see more deals" on the right (under Special Offers) and then select Banker. I did not link 'cause I don't know if gomez is considered a referer.

I doubt that the 6.25% rate will last long, considering the 'Fed cut rates by 100 basis pts. Most money market accounts are in the low 5's already, so even if PCBanker cuts their rates, they'll still probably be one of the highest left ...

I did this in November, through Gomez.

I am VERY satisfied with pcbanker.com. They have free bill pay, they send postage paid deposit envolops, they answer requests submitted via their online form quite quickly (better than phone answers, tho that's not terrible eaither.)

If you keep more than $750 average in there a amonth, you get 4 ATM rebates up to $1.50 each for that month.

raxafarian, I'd be interested in hearing more about Gomez.com's referral program.
