This is probably going to sound like a noob question but I'll ask it anyway. When it comes to GPUs that require a single or dual 6 pin power connector (many require two now) is it better to choose a PSU with 6+2 pin connectors or one with 8 pin connectors? Or does it matter?

The reason I ask is because I'm considering a GTX460 or a ATI 6950 card and they have 6 pin connectors but when looking for a PSU they seem to come in two types. The the type with 8 pin connectors and the type with 6+2. So I'm trying to decide which is the more ideal. The modular PSU (Corsair HX750w) has 8 pin connectors. A Modular PSU would be better for a mATX build I want to do due to less cables.

Are there pros and cons to 6+2 pin connector types and 8 pin types? I'm guessing the 6+2 variety covers all situations but I just had to know.

P.S. The reason for a 750w psu is because I may want to add a second GPU at a later time and a 750w should be good enough for that.

Corsair's HX750w actually has four 6+2pin PCI-E connectors, not 8-pin.

The only difference between 6+2 and 8 pin is the fact that you can detach the other pins for compatibility with 6 pin PCI-E devices. There is no electrical difference between 8 and 6+2 PCI-E cables.
