That's just not true.

I've done tons and tons of research on this. Just about every reputable scientist affirms this is true (except for those pesky few nutjobs who don't).

Even the head of the National Academy of the Sciences concurs with me, and as if that wasn't enough, so does John Travolta. That should be proof enough...

What does that mean, exactly?

Sorry, that wound.

In English - That low is caught between two strong Highs, spinning it down.

If the low makes it over the warm Gulf water it can go to the surface as a tropical low.

Hey look, that's my town they're talking about. It's been raining a good deal today.

In Louisiana, emergency crews evacuated more than 100 patients from Holly Hill Nursing Home, where the water was a foot deep in the halls.

Fire departments from Sulphur and Lake Charles and two ambulance companies were moving patients to another nursing home in Lake Charles, about 15 miles away, officials said.

"There's pretty widespread flooding around the parish. A lot of roads are closed," said Dick Gremillion, the Calcasieu Parish emergency preparedness director.

Police urged residents of Sulphur to stay home unless there was an emergency.

Some houses in the town flooded, but most of the flooding appeared to be caused by wakes produced by passing vehicles, Assistant Police Chief Glenn Berry said.

The Houston Fire Department said it had to rescue at least a dozen motorists from deep water, Cornelius said.

More coming, this system is essentially spinning in place trapped between two strong Highs.

6-19-2006 More storms expected in flooded Houston

Floodwaters that covered highways and swamped cars across sections of south and east Houston had receded by Monday afternoon, giving rescue teams a respite.

But the storm system that deluged the city with up to 11 inches of rain in some areas appeared likely to return.

The National Weather Service predicted thunderstorms could return to the Houston area and continue until midday Tuesday, dumping as much as another 5-10 inches onto the already water-logged ground.
