can anyone suggest some good 6.1 audio speakers? sound is my next upgrade, i'm looking at an audigy 2 but not sure where to go for the actual speakers. thanks!

Creative is the only company planning on releasing a 6.1 speaker system in the foreseeable future. You're only other option is to buy a 4.1 and a 2.1 speaker system and combine them. Ideally, you should try to keep all the speakers as close to voice-matched as possible. Therefore, you'd probably have to seriously consider the Klipsch ProMedia 4.1 combined with the ProMedia 2.1 speaker systems to create your 6.1 speaker system (even though you'll have 2 subwoofers).

Honestly, I wouldn't go with a 6.1 setup at all. The extra channels don't offer you too much in terms of sound quality. Hell, even a good 4.1 setup can offer good midrange playback. It is a better idea to get a higher quality speaker setup using less speakers than to go too crazy. The rear channels are definitely nice, but as long as it provides good midrange, the mid channels of 5.1 and 6.1 setups are superlative.

What do you mean by "mid channels"??

I agree. I'd go for a good quality 5.1 set like the Klipsch, or use a separate receiver and HT speakers.

5.1 is nice to have over 4.1 because that's the standard for DVDs, but 6.1 isn't really useful. It doesn't make a big difference in home theater setups, so I really don't see how it could enhance the surround experience with PC speakers that are about 3 feet apart from each other... That, and the fact that very few movies have 6.1 tracks, and that no game will use this standard for a long time makes it a waste of money IMO.

Quality!! Not quantity... 😉
