Hi I was just wondering if anybody has Juno/netzero's upgraded 5x faster dialup? If so, is it really faster? Is it worth upgrading to? Any input would greatly be appreciated!! Thanks!

Alex

thats why im asking........my uncle has dial up and he thinks his computer is slow because of how slow it loads pictures in his email. So that is why I wanted to know if it's even worth it? I have cable and told him to get it but he doesnt.

Which only helps for text / HTML, it won't help much (if at all) with Zip or other archives, programs, images, music, since they are already highly compressed.

NetZero HiSpeed accelerates certain web page text and graphics when compared to standard dial-up Internet service. Actual results may vary. Some web pages such as secure or encrypted web pages will not be accelerated. NetZero HiSpeed is not a broadband service and actual data transmission rates are not faster than standard dial-up Internet service. Transmission of files including, without limitation, streaming audio or video, digital photographs, MP3 or other music files, executable files and other downloads, is not faster using NetZero HiSpeed than with standard dial-up service. NetZero HiSpeed may not be compatible with proxy based software or services such as content filters or firewalls. NetZero HiSpeed is only compatible with Platinum service and specified browsers. Available only for Windows.

Actually, the benefit comes mostly from caching. It basically caches frequently accessed data and has only to update it when the content is updated.

So, in essence, web browsing is VERY fast, because you aren't actually downloading any files. Those sites are already on your PC and you are basically browing your cache.

if your family member thinks their computer is slow because pictures download slow, then he'll believe anything
