what was this comparison? a fuel economy comparison.

read more here

they also speculate, that the Vette, with DoD added could possibly surpass the Accord Hybrid for highway fuel economy:shocked:

anyways, not only was the TDi MUCH better than the Prius, it also used B20 which makes it THAT much better.

in conclusion
Diesel > Hybrid.

Those VW TDI Manual transmission Jettas are amazing. Good luck finding one used for a decent price - the high gas mileage means the resale value is way up. You might as well buy one new. I know a guy with one and he breaks 40mpg all the time.

I have been thinking about one of those TDI jettas as we have a Ford Escort commuter car on its way out.

From what I have heard though, you cant get the diesel in California. Haven't looked into it yet.

Yea sure with the way you see most people driving their vettes. Which is basically 5 under the speed limit regardless of traffic, and some punk kid who never lets off the throttle of the Accord Hybrid - then yea, they might match fuel economy ratings on the HW. Until then I'll call this "review" biased

biased? in what way? the corvette paced, and the cars all followed at the same speed.

The VW doesn't require B20 if that's what you're talking about. I think California might have already made the complete switch to low sulfer diesel fuel too, I'm not sure if that will present a problem in the VW or not. They wouldn't be selling them there if you can't fuel them there.

I haven't priced a new TDI Jetta (not in the market to replace my truck, plus it'd be retarded to drop $25,000 on a car to save money at the pump with as little as I drive). I wonder if they're going for list because of the great mileage.

You're right.. the EPA shouldn't even give them ratings. Let's stop advertising processor speed for computers meant for Word and Powerpoint too..

I'd rather wish for all car companies to bring their diesel engines over. VW reliability makes me wish I could get a diesel Focus or Civic.

QFT. And I know what I'm talking about considering I know the lead mechanic, and 2 other mechanics, very well, who work at VW dealerships. VW has some of the worst reliability, I'd rather drive almost any American car then VW

Heh, I think I would rather have the Vette. Realistically, one of those might be on the horizon in a year or so. I hope.
