What should we call the teams?

  • Comets vs Asteroids

  • Snowmen vs Yetis

  • Genomes vs Antibodies

  • Thunder vs Lightning

  • Prancers vs Dashers

  • Team 1 vs Team 2

Just been looking at the production numbers. There is something going on, production is very low for many folders ... and normal for quite a few others.

Could this be the effect of the PrimeGrid race?

We will see ...

Looks like it's the memory controller. It runs with one stick (single channel), but not 2 sticks. The memory is ok w/ 1 pass on memtest on another machine. The same RAM also works in dualchannel mode on another machine.

Have you tried each stick in the 1090T machine ? and tried each slot ? I have had slots go bad also. The memory controller is on the chip, and I doubt its bad.

Here are the stats as of December 19, 2010, 18:15 UTC.

The effect of the race is quite visible - the production has dropped substantially. But the teams seem to be hit equally hard - if anything, the Snowmen are hit harder ...

Yeah, I shouldn't have called it the memory controller. I have 4 DIMM slots. A single DIMM in the A1 slot worked fine. A pair of DIMMs in either the "blue" slots or "black" slots failed to post. This is my main machine so going from 8 GB ram to 2 GB ram on an x6 didn't cut it for me.

The mother board is replaced and now I have 8 GB RAM again and everything is working fine so far. No overclocking yet, though. 😉

Well, I put a USB dvd in my computer, it locked up, and when I re-booted it, I lost 48% of a bigadv ! Over 24 hours and over 20k points.

Welcome to the Yetis! 🙂

Did you end up getting the 950?

Thanks!

I ended up saving a couple bucks and getting an 860. I'm dinking around with the OC right now so points maybe down for a couple days until I find a stable sweetspot. Will be running a bigadv client & a GPU client on my GTX460.

Read the FAQ here and follow the link there to request a passkey.
http://folding.stanford.edu/English/FAQ-passkey

In the console (with -configonly) or from the systray (select Configure), add the passkey that they send you into your user info. You need the passkey to earn the bonus points that make some of the WUs worth so much more.

Successfully crunch 10 SMP WUs (A2 or A3 required still? not 100% sure) and the bonus will then kick in, assuming that your successful WU completion percentage is at least 80% (8 out of 10).

Oh wait, you're crunching for the Yetis. Ignore what I just said. 😉 😛

Nice. Thanks for the info. I'll have to update my clients when I get home from work tonight.

Going to take a while for the 10 WUs to kick in on my CPU client... have BIGADV so it'll take me almost 3 weeks assuming I get all large WUs

OK, folks, I am stuck in a snow-caused air trafic jam of larger proportion and wont be home until very late tonight or (I hope not) tomorrow morning. I won't have the time to do the stats here on the airport because I only have limited internet time and I do not have the script on my ultra-portable ...
Please have patience ... 🙂

You can run non-bigadv WUs first (i.e. run the -SMP and -advmethod flags first) and then on the 11th WU, add the -bigadv flag back in (and remove the -advmethod flag). Otherwise, like you mentioned, it will take you 3 weeks before you see any bonuses.

Bummer dude. Good luck getting home!

travel safely.

Yeah that's what I did. Looks like even without bigadv, I got a big fatty. May have to save this unit and start without advmethods on. BTW, why do you say to remove the advmethods flag when using bigadv?

Some people were having issues getting bigadv WUs with the advmethods flag on.

I believe I'll stick with folding as well. Any 1090T owners who would like to share their OC settings with me as well as tpf for 6701's (man, I hate those).

I hate those 6701/6702's too!

My 1090T w/ new MB is up and running again.

I'm keeping my OC simple this time. I'm only changing 2 parameters: CPU clock ratio (multiplier) and CPU voltage.

Default multiplier is x16 and default CPU voltage is 1.30V

multiplier___voltage__GHz___result
_x16________1.30____3.2___stable
_x17________1.30____3.4___stable
_x18________1.30____3.6___unstable
_x18________1.34____3.6___stable
_x19________1.38____3.8___stable on smp for 12 hours and counting

Just out of curiosity, what kind of ppd are you getting with the 1090T@3.8?
