I purchased a Chi Mei 22" 5ms panel from NewEgg (these are the same panels all the 22" 5ms monitors use). I notice that I get text shimmering worse on this new faster monitor than my 2001FP (which I believe is a 25ms panel).
So, for example, this is what I'm doing. I open up excel and put text filling every cell, then drag it intermediate between the two monitors. Then I drag that window slowly up and down. The 5ms panel has the window shimmer. The 25ms panel text doesn't shimmer and remains legible.
If I did not know the monitor response times, I'd say the 2001FP was faster at drawing the image than the other.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about? What is this effect that I'm seeing?
