5lb Lobsters?!?!

went to the supermarket today and they had a sale on lobsters for $6.99 a pound and was gonna get a bunch and have people over tonight...they went and weighed 2 and the cost for 2 of them was gonna be $80!!!

thats over 5lb per lobster??? i thought they were like 1-2 lb's on average

$6.99 is decent... i've seen better prices at Chinese markets. Anyways, personally i prefer the small canners ones... they're 1lb each, but they're much tastier than the larger ones... and cheaper. They're $5.99 each right now up here in Canada... and 2 for dinner fills me up just fine.

Maine lobsters grow to 45pounds. After 7 or 8, though, the meat starts to get tough and loses flavor.

How are you going to cook those bad boys? My favorite is Puerto Nuevo Style, but steamed, or with a vanilla sauce are always welcome. I love cooking live lobster.
