5900nu and ATI TV Wonder. Good or bad combo?

Hi all.
I want to start capturing some video camera footage and create a few DVD's.
I currently have a GFFX5900nu (non VIVO) in my system. I am contemplating on whether or
not I should install my ATI TV Wonder VE pci card to use for the capturing. My question is,
Would I do better to remove my 5900 and install my Radeon 9700np for better compatability between
the video card and capture card? Or will the TV Wonder work just fine with the 5900?

Thanks,
GM

I'd pull the 5900 first. You'll likely run into driver problems mixing the ati and nvidia cards.

Briefly I had an old PCI ATI Rage 4MB AIW coexisting with my GF3 Ti200. Had dual monitors working just fine. I figure it's worth a try.

I'd say its worth trying first. There really shouldn't be any driver conflicts between the cards.

What OS are you using? You will have a horrible mess of a time getting that TV Wonder VE to work under Windows 2000 or XP. Check out the forums at Rage3D for thread after thread of headaches and problems. ATi pretty much dropped all support for it, but if you're running 9x, then you can probably get away with it. I would highly sugguest a different namebrand tuner to save you some woes down the road, if that is at all a possibility.

Different name brand tuner sounds pretty good considering I use Win2000. Thank you for the heads up on that Aftermath. I am most willing to
go out right now and purchase a new capture card. I only considered the TV Wonder since I already owned it.
Any recommendations would be great. Remember, I would like to keep my 5900 in my rig.
I have an analog (S-Video) Sony Handycam. Does not have firewire. Windows 2000 SP3.

As always, thanks a lot...

EDIT: Oh!! Also, could anyone recommend a feature full, yet not impossible to use Capture software and DVD creation software?
I currently have Roxio EZCD/DVD creator 6.0. I would be able to use this for everything except it does not capture from analog corders.

What do you guys think of this setup? Please consider me a N00b in this area. I need to rely on your experience for this one.

I have read a lot of good things about the Leadtek series of capture cards. That is where I personally would look first. You can find a lot of information at this site. Good luck. :D

Thank you for the links. The leadtek cards seem a little "thin" or feature poor. I realized that I had to thoroghly check all options for a capture card even down to the codecs it uses. I have ordered the Pinnacle Studio Deluxe which includes the Studio 8 software. This package includes a breakout box for the desktop which is nice. It can accept AV, DV and a firewire port so if I ever decide to buy a digital camcorder with 1394 capabilities. It has an analog to digital/digital to analog processor chip onboard, no other add in card necessary. Some of the leadtek cards required this. Fully windows 2000/XP compatable. Also comes with Hollywood FX software package.

I read a ton of reviews the past couple of days and it seems this setup is the top of the line "home user" setup. Just below professional grade stuff which has a dozen other options I will never need to use. All I want to do is capture video of my baby boy and make really nice professional looking DVD's with menus and the whole soundtrack in the backround which reviews said this is perfect for.

Thanks for your help, very much appreciated. Best Buy has this setup for 199.00. I found it on the net for 164.00. Gotta luv the internet.

Heres a link for all who are interested in this stuff.
