Main difference is memory speeds and memory quality, being 2.2ns memory for 5900 and 2.8ns for 5900SE I believe.

Performance difference between the 2 is negligible. Atlhough the 5900se has clocks of 400/700 compared to the 5900's 400/850, the se has tighter ram timings. Stock, the 5900nu is a little faster, but maybe 1 fps more! I would get the nu if you want to flash to 5950 speeds.

I'd probably pick up the 5900se. The two are usually within a few fps of each other at stock speeds, so it's not worth an extra $35. If you're planning on overclocking then you might want the 5900 though, as the ram will go up to considerably higher speeds.

Just remember two ppl in this forum have complained of poor signal quality with their eVGA 5900SE. Something to watch out for.

Don't bother flashing a card with 2.2 ns RAM with a 5950 BIOS... it's useless... the RAM won't go much higher than 950 no matter what you do, and it's easy to overclock it to near that without using a different BIOS.
On the other hand, if you have 2.8 ns RAM, the extra voltage provided does help with overclocking and you can get the RAM up around 950.
You'll get more out of the GPU by flashing, but in my attempt at it, it doesn't make a whole lot of difference in performance. I run my 5900 with 2.2ns RAM at 490/940... with the 5950 BIOS I was able to run it at 530/950... hardly any difference in performance, so I decided to put the origional BIOS back and remove some stress from the added voltage the 5950 BIOS provides.

You could get a Radeon 9800pro for like 220 at newegg. It would have better visual quality than a 5900. But if you'd rather have bang for your buck, then get the 5900se

Depends what you mean by potential... and it depends on whether you're willing to overvolt it by flashing it with the 5950 BIOS as I explained in my previous post.

By the way... CompUSA has a built by ATI 9800 Pro for $200 after rebates this week.

2.2 ns will give better OC even without flashing
