Im confused on which to get... xfx, albetron, gainward or evga.

all look good to me, This card @200 is awesome! compared to the 300 for a 9800np.

xfx and evga look like sobering choices, while the albetron and gainward have the flashy look at me fans thing going on.

If you can get to a Best Buy and send in a mail in rebate, get the BFG 5900. It has 2.2ns RAM and BFG's customer service is the best I've ever dealt with.

If you're interested in overclocking, from what I have heard people usually get excellent results with the eVGA.
I'd stay away from the xfx, as they recently started shipping their card with 2.8ns DDR... meaning a memory clock of 700mhz.

I really like my Aopen, but I've never seen it for sale anywhere except when I got it on eBay.

The eVGA GeForce FX 5900 at newegg.com seems to be getting super reviews. Looks good, except it is $225 buckaroons. Is it worth it, or should i get something cheaper?

for all you people who are still interested in the xfx 5900nu with the 850 mhz mem, you can still get it but you won't find it for that awesome buy you were acustomed to for the past few months. It now sells for 289. The 700mhz one now sells at the price the 850mhz use to be at, 196.
hope this clears it all up.

You can get the 850MHZ parts for $225 off of NewEgg right now. They are now listing the mem speed of all their parts and at least for the eVGA boards the 2.2ns part is $225 while the 2.8ns part is $185(with Call of Duty- a great deal for those planning on picking up the game that haven't yet).

As far as I know PNY only made them with 2.2ns memory... and the specs on the site say 850mhz, so it must be it.
I ordered that exact one from them... should be here Tuesday :)

I have a few questions on this card reasons being I don't know much about video cards. So, I was wondering how overclockable is this card? Can it at least become a 5900U?

Lol, what is it nowadays with people expecting to be able to get a more expensive part by overclocking a cheaper one?

That is almost always the case with any 5900NU.... So I'm almost positive that that will be the case with this one as well. Not too mention I'm pretty sure it's got a nice cooling setup on it.
Mine will be here tomorrow.... I'll let you know my tenative overclocking results by Wednesday if you like.

Yeah man, definately will do. The card gets here tomorrow, but I have finals tomorrow and Wednesday, so I'm gonna keep pretty busy. I'm hoping to get a chance to play with it Wednesday night... Keep in mind, that I plan on removing the massive heatsink and applying some Artic Silver on all the chips.... quality contact is something that most manufacturers neglect. This may help my overclocking results as well, but I don't plan on getting around to doing this until the weekend.

I just bought the eVGA 5900 @ Newegg for $225 shipped. It looks exactly like the PNY card linked above.

Mine does 495/990 all day long... (but refuses to do 500/1000! :D )

EDIT: Auto-detect is a joke, as it said mine should do 527/1000+!!!

Nice, but I notice that some have VIVO and some don't.
Just note. Cause some may want to record input from tv.

Ok, got my PNY FX5900NU in. Here's the results:

Overall, very nice board. Unfortunately, it doesn't include PNY's newer style of heatsink (the gold one), but the cooling still seems adequate. Fan is a bit on the small side though, and somewhat noisy.
I am also getting the small noise when scrolling... no biggie, but kind of a bummer.

Overclocking results have been pretty good. It will auto-detect to 455/960, which is decent. Obviously auto detect is pretty conservative though, so I expect to get at least another 10mhz out of both the core and memory. I'll keep you posted once I've had time to play with it.
