Looks to be a reference card.

I emailed him and offered 750 but I doubt he takes it.

I guess...

I have a IC7 and 2.4c sitting in my closet waiting for my Corsair pc3500 to get here.

A 5900 Ultra would suit that nicely.

That isn't a retail box, that is an nVidia reference box. I suppose they ship the cards out for review in them??

i hope they make a better looking box
Just curious and maybe i'm missing something but what's the deal with the box? I see more and more reviews that have a whole paragraph describing the box. Who gives a s***? I mean. it's not like an album cover (for you catz that still remember those) where you twist one up, put on the new record and stare at the details on the album cover ;)

btw, I think I'll wait a month on that 5900 Ultra and save the grand.

I would never bid on that thing. Review samples are buggy and this one likely has the analog blur bug. And to be honest, it is still a very difficult choice deciding between the 9800 pro 256mb and the FX5900U.

i've never seen a review that talks about the box in any significant length but the thing is the ATi boxes are so damn catchy

The only problem we encountered with our GeForceFX 5900 Ultra board was that the analog video output was incredibly blurry. For a $499 card we would expect better, and we can only hope that shipping cards won't have the horrible output we noted on our reference board. We do have high hopes that the problem will be fixed as the board that we had will change considerably before hitting mass production, for starters, the card is supposed to be as long as a GeForce4 Ti 4600 in its final revision:

I guess I can wait a few weeks to pre-order one for $499. .
If they try to pull a 5800Ultra "pay $100 extra because they're in short supply" I'll buy a R9800 256 for $499 and wait until they pull off a "regular" launch like the old days.

Can you believe it's up to a grand now? I mean, I like to have bleeding edge too but c'mon. Paying twice as much for something that will, in all probability, be here within a month is rediculous. That's just mho tho....

aight no problem. I'm interested in seeing how it performs first hand. ESPECIALLY after all this crazy controversy going on.

Let's run some benchmarks when you recieve it.

So you post that you totally spanked his 5900 Ultra with your 9700 non pro, on a much weaker system, like you did to the other guy?

Rogo, someday you're going to have to believe someone has a faster VGA that you. (and that would be anyone with a 5800Ultra, 5900/Ultra, andf 9800)
