although there are no anandtech or tomshardware article yet about the 5900 and 5900 value, i would like to ask if the performance difference between 5900 ultra and 5900 is slim? am sure there is a big gap when it comes to 5900 value though. the leadtek cards are available here, the 5900ultra 256mb and the 5900 128mb. the only difference that i saw on the spec page of the leadtek cards is the GPU clock, 5900 ultra at 450mhz and the 5900 at 400mhz, their memory clock (425mhz) and features are the same though. thanks guys in advance

I don`t think the difference between 5900 Ultra and 5900 is that great, you do get 256mb which may be handy down the road,as for the 5900 Value ,nobody knows the details of this yet and there`re rumours going round it may have a 128bit bus not 256bit like its bigger brothers.

Btw cfule welcome to the AT forums.

The strange thing about Leadtek is they are very slow getting their 5900 models out when their lower models are already available,I`ve yet to find a site in the UK that has any Leadtek 5900 listed at the moment.

Update: Just found a UK site that has the Leadtek FX 5900 in stock, for UK members go here .

On andantech they did a piece it is Here It doesn't really compare the value and the reg but it does the 5900 and and 5800 so you can assume that it is better then the messed up 5800 so inbetween there but you can get an idea.

Btw the MSI FX5900 review here has benchmarks of it against the FX 5900 Ultra and ATI 9700/9800 Pro cards.

Hmmm. Mikeycooley, I have a FX5800.
At stock speeds, no AA/AF, it's about as fast as a Radeon 9700Pro.
It runs fine at Ultra, where in many cases it's faster than a R9700Pro.
At any speed, stock or OCd, it's faster than any other graphics card, except the 9700/9800Pro.
With the new fan design, it's quiet and stable, and has nVidia's drivers and compatibility.

So how is that "messed up"? What graphics card do you have Mikey Cooley?

I was refering to how the fax was made wrong causing it to click and run loud. The 5800 just wasn't there in perforcemace that's why some companys have stoped making them and nvidia has taken them off there site. Its a nice card don't get me wrong but it was rushed and wasn't a true representation of quaility like there 5900 which looks to be a card that was done right.

I got 5% lower 3dmark2001Se with my stock clocked 5800 as I did with my stock 9700Pro. That seems like pretty decent performance to me?

Like the guys at VRZone, I found my 5800 runs at Ultra speeds simply by setting the clock there, performance looks pretty comparable to me:
5800 faster than you think?

I never said it wasn't a good card I said it was made incorrectly and that a card released a couple of months after it's big release was the real card we have be waiting for (the NV35). I would of bought if it didn't have a fan made wrong. Now back to my first post the assuming the NV35 chipset is better then the NV31 the value 5900 and regular 5900 should be just above the 5800.

I will agree the FlowFX is not the optimal cooling solution. The 5800s that don't have FlowFX are decent cards, especially when OCd.

Every topic or thread seems to be a tug-of-war with members between ATI vs Nvidia even with a simple question as this.

Welcome to anandtech cfule. Considering the 128 MB version is 100 dollars cheaper and that no game will use 256 MBs of ram for the next few years, there is no real difference.
