I dont know if i'm the only one who feels this way but there is ABSOLUTELY NO GAME I await more eagerly than the single player of half-life 2!
Luckily for all concerned, HL2 seems to be running much better on nVidia these days:
Waiting for the plaintive wails of "The mixed mode will be butt ugly! Valve wants to isolate their game from over half of their market to prove us all right in our bbs flames!

I'm really happy HL2 is working well on the FX5900. People who spent $300 and up on that card deserve playable framerates, and they now will get to enjoy this (hopefully) ground-breaking game.

As a side note, isn't it funny how the Nvidia "supporters" now think HL2 won't be so bad anymore, eh? ;)

LOL. Now we have to see if there really is a big difference in the visual experience betwen mixed mode and full DX9 mode. It seems to me just reflections will make a real difference, but who knows. We'll see.

Those HL2 benchmarks weren't for the 5900, or even the 5900 Ultra though... They were for the 5950.

I can think of 2 things you laugh at...

1)many games have used multitexturing in the past few years
2)doing 4 textures with 2 passes is SLOWER than doing 8 textures in 1 pass

Running away from a problem is a great way to solve it eh? How about some dx9 HL2 benchmarks for a dx9 capable card huh?
