5850x2,will 8x vs. 16x make any difference?

I am considering a change in motherboard.It only supports 8x lanes in crossfire.Do it or no?My future plans do include 5850x2 which will likely be the extent of my video setup for a long time..Thanks-
 
Unless you're going for an amd CPU I wouldn't let it dictate your mobo choice. While there is a minor performance hit vs x16 it's nothing compared to the gains you get from the second card.
 
In that case just look at getting an 890fx board like the MSI 890FXA-GD70. 44 lanes of PCIe should keep your GPUs happy, and the boards tantalium capacitors feeding the CPU give it amazing voltage stability when overclocking
