Price is $240 dollars for XFX Radeon 5830
Price is $345 dollars for XFX Radeon 5850
Price is $420 dollars for XFX Radeon 5870

Which one do I want (My monitor is 1920x1080) Playing Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3.

Is it worth the extra $105 dollars for the 5850?

Thanks so much for your input. I just ordered my computer with the 5830 as it is on sale.. but I still have time to change to the 5850 or 5870 most likely as I am starting to feel that these would be a better choice...

Thoughts?

$105 difference between XFX 5830 and 5850? the 5830 is not much better than a 5770 which would be nearly another 100 bucks cheaper if that is an option. what does the rest of your pc even look like?

5830 doesn't make much sense in terms of performance. At 210 it might make more sense.

It's $345 for the 5850?

Did the price go up recently? When I still bothered to check a month ago, 5850s, albeit not from XFX, could be had for as low as $290-315. These are HIS and MSI boards though. The lifetime warranty is a definite plus from XFX.

Regardless, I'd go for the 5850 because the 5830 is overpriced and too gimped for what you pay. May as well get a 5770 and get another one when you have the money to crossfire it.

It's a prebuilt I think (based on the OP).
Personally I would consider going with no graphics, or the base setup, and then buy an HD5850 and install yourself (if confident enough), and maybe save $50 or so.

Onboard VGA would suffice for these games. Why are you even spending more than $75 on a GPU unles you need 3 monitors or something?

5850

Don't even think twice about a 5830. Use Bing's cashback program to nab a reference-designed XFX 5850 for $280-$285. Saves you about $60 and nets you one hell of a solid card.

5850. Runs anything. Enough said. :D.

5830 is the median for 5850 and 5770, but the performance of the two cards don't really need a median...@ 1080 gaming, 5770 takes on almost anything (struggles with AA though). 5850 would tear through frames like a knife through butter. Depending on the balance between money and performance, you should pick either. 5830 is the ugly duckling (that has no happy ending) :(.

I noticed you're ordering from NCIX.

I'm sure there's still probably a better price out there, but you can get a Powercolor PCS+ 5850 for $289 from DirectCanada.
