How is the 5800 FX performing vs 9700 np card i havent seen any or find any good articles on the www pls point me to one or answer and telling me if u have any experiance.

The 9700np woul dbe able to be overclocked most probably by more than the FX5800, and if they are about even in performance initially, this should give the 9700 the enge, and also, the 9700 will beat the 5800's ass in AA/AF, which is especially important if you are gaming using an LCD (fixed res) monitor.

anandtec 9700/5800 numbers

nahh 9700 WITH a doubt...

5800 takes the lead if there's no AA/AF on... or possibly just AA...

Some people like me, that has a big monitor, rather use high resolutions than low resolutions with AA...

and from my personal experience.. ati's driver quality is still not near the level of nvidia's...

compare IQ... now this is only true for opengl... direct 3d, radeon 9700pro takes the lead..

ati radeon 9700 pro with 8xAF

geforce3 with 4xAF...

very close, judgeing by those numbers, it looks like the 5800 is a slightly better performer

What i have understood is that the ATi card is the best atm? But i saw some terrible scores in Doom 3 on the ATi cards any ideas??

I overclocked my Radeon 9500 Pro to 400/660mhz with stock cooling!
400mhz: 400* 8 = 3200m/t wow!😎
660mhz: 10.6GB

Not far from a Nvidia Geforce FX 5800 😉
I could use some ramsinks for better memory resulsts oh well

Don't worry about these scores ati well have better drivers for Doom 3 when it comes out

maybe your q3 install is just borked and it says hightest but there is nothing wrong with th af in that shot, it is the texture resolution that is suffering.

vg0, there's definitely something wrong with the ATi's texture setting in your shot. It's not set the same as the GF3. Maybe you have "highest quality" for textures set in both the drivers and the game, but something is b0rked in your system.

well thanks all but the 9700 was out of stock, suddenly and they werent selling it anymore so i had to change so i took a 9700 pro instead i hope i did the right thing....
