I went from a 8800GTS 640 MB card on my Q6600 machine and upped it to the Sapphire 5770. The card fit fine, but at the same time I upgraded my PSu to the Antec 500W listed below, so I can't tell you if your PSU will be ok.

I say get the Antec mentioned above and the 5770 then call it a day for a couple of years when you can focus on upgrading everything. The Q6600 (stock) + 5770 (OC) is still good for all I throw at it at 1080P as long as I don't go full max on everything (recently playing TF2, ME2, DA:O, Vindictus).

Thanks for all the input. I think I am going to go ahead and buy a 5770 and pop it into my system and see if it works. If not I can always RMA to newegg. Instead of upgrading my PSU or mobo I'll just save my money and buy a completely new system in a year once sandybridge and bulldozer have hit the market and I could always use the 5770 in the new system, buy another and do crossfire, or just buy a better card.
