I think the extra matching 5770 would be worth it for the extra $43. Much more likely to get a matching overclock, and really be beyond stock 5870 by a decent margin.

Interesting though. 57x0 are pretty low powered, so it wouldn't take a crazy PSU to do this.

In my case if you already have a high clocking 5750,(it will do 910,1365),could be a good cheaper alternative.

Definitely :) I'm just saying for a new build I'd be more comfortable with initially matching cards. You have a killer 5750, I wish my 5770 looked worthy of overclocking.

There are two XFX versions, one with a true dual-slot cooling system (sealed w/exhaust), and one really cheap looking one, which is what I have. It's my first ATI card in a while, I got it in a trade for my old GTS250 (someone not really a gamer who did run SETI/Folding), but didn't get to pick it out as it was already purchased.

The good XFX 5770

The lesser XFX 5770 (the one I have)

In the Catalyst control center, the overclocking options are all greyed out, how do I enable them?

There is a picture of a master lock in the top right hand corner in the overdrive section.
You have to push it to unlock.

If you use MSI afterburner and change the config file, you can go past what overdrive allows.
I can max out overdrive, if I want to go higher then 870 core ,I use afterburner and the EVGA program.

I have a normal xfx with the egg cooler edition.

That's not bad but for the price I would get 5850 and overclock.
