Maybe this will help. With recent driversAs far as I remember from older reviews, the two setups should trade blows at that res.

Way too good to be true. i used all 6970s/6990 and GTX 580s.6870 CF....too good to be true? is that a typo 😵?

i use two PSUs when i need more than 850Wget a bigger PSU with 6990 + 6970
someone in another forum was saying that the 6990 even though it lists 4 GB... only has 2 or something.... with Vram.... that makes it worse than getting a crossfire setup... but from the looks of these benchmarks it looks like that is not an issue at all since the 6990 performs just slightly under 2 6970's
The issue with HD 6990 is that is loud once you flip the BIOS switch. The results in my charts are of the HD 6990 at stock (factory clocked and warrantied) settings.it wouldnt perform worse, since a 6990 has 4gb split on 2 gpus, and a 6970 has 2gb for its once gpu...
there are other things that would make the 6970 CF a bit faster than the 6990s though. The 6990s are also built to be overclockable to a high degree with burning or dying..
what about performance on 3 30 inchers? 7680x1600..
