5700 Passive Heating?

I'm looking for a new video card, and I saw the Sapphire ATI 9600 with passive heating. However, I'd like to go with Nvida for linux support, and saw from the sticky here that the 5700 is comparable. The problem is that I haven't found one with passive heating.

Does anyone know if there is such a card of if it can be modded?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know of anyone selling a fanless 5700 offhand, but you could definitely mod one with a Zalman heatpipe cooler (though you lose a PCI slot then, and it might not fit in some SFF cases).

Also, it's usually referred to as passive cooling. 😛

Some of the 5700LEs have passive cooling, but I don't think I've come across a regular 5700 or Ultra that has it. As Matthias99 stated, you can make is passive for about $30.

In case it's noise that's the problem, both of the 5700LE's I've listened to were very low noise items (I have an eVGA 5700 myself, and a display system at a dealer here had a PNY Vertol version).
