570 and 580 Artifact Defects

Has anyone noticed that there are a heck of a lot of people out there with either 570s or 580s that get artifacting on their cards for no real reason (i.e. their cards are not overheating, they have adequate power, proper drivers, etc. etc.)?

I am one of them, and I have RMA'd my card to EVGA and the one I got back is doing the SAME EXACT THING. If I put in a different video card into the same exact computer, no problems whatsoever.

Everyone else who seems to have this problem also confirms that doing a cold boot temporarily resolves the problem, but then it comes back. This is true for me as well.

I have also replaced my power supply. No difference.

My Rig:
CPU- i7 920
GPU- 570 HD (EVGA)
PSU- Corsair AX 850
MBOARD- EVGA X58 SLI
RAM- Corsair XMS 8GB DDR3 1600MHZ
HDDs- 2x Intel X-25M (G1) 80GB, 2x Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB

yeah I saw a pretty long thread about it on the EVGA forums. kind of makes me nervous because I will be getting a new gpu next month and was looking hard towards the gtx570.

I think it mostly involves factory OC'd 570 cards. Set to Nvidia ref (732mhz) the problem is usually resolved. In some instances though a slight underclock may be needed.

Personally I think Nvidia had set the default clocks a bit high on the 570 (just to match the 6970 performance), so OCs can be unstable if not accompanied by a small voltage boost.

My 570 is at 732mhz and 1900 memory clock. What should I set it to to see if it fixes the problem?

I have also tried increasing the voltage, but that has no effect.

I was getting some weird artifact issues with my GTX580 in Crysis 2. I have the EVGA factory overclocked model.

I get this problem randomly on my 580. If I uninstall drivers, clean em out and reinstall it goes away.

I am running it with the memory under clocked a bit and it has not happened since.
