Fifty-seven percent (57%) of voters now believe the Democratic congressional agenda is extreme. A plurality (45%) view the GOP agenda as mainstream.

orty-eight percent (48%) of U.S. voters now regard President Obama’s political views as extreme. Forty-two percent (42%) place his views in the mainstream, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.

By comparison, 51% see the views of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as mainstream. Thirty-five percent (35%) think Clinton’s views are extreme. Fourteen percent (14%) are undecided.

Predictably, most Republicans view Obama’s views as extreme, while a sizable majority of Democrats say they are mainstream. But most voters not affiliated with either party also describe the president’s views as extreme by a 54% to 30% margin.

With mid term elections only a few months away it looks like it is shaping up to be a interesting November for the Democrats.

I think that this is more of a reflection of the democrats inability to market themselves rather than their actual policies.

I highly doubt 86% of people even know enough what Hillary Clinton's views are.

It's the death panels, that and taking our fishing poles away. Besides, Obama is a Muslim from Kenya so his party has to have extreme and un-American ideas.

Kudos to the Republicans for spreading an amazing amount of FUD.

She's been purposefully detached so as not to get dragged down with a 1-term president. She's a smart politician, if anything.

If GOP wins Congress this November, they'll have ample time to demonstrate again why they can't be trusted with governing this country in 2012.

Like when Obama abolished the position dedicated to transparency in his administration while being the most transparent president?

Or having 2 congressman accused of ethics violations while Pelosi is running the most ethical congress ever?

You can make your own predictions, but having GOP win the Congress this year is the best thing that can happen for Obama's chances in 2012.

Both sides always make this mistake. The average american voter is moderate but whenever one side gets elected it tries to shove its policies down everyone's throat.

I think so too.

Aside from his inexperience, IMO nothing has hurt Obama more than Pelosi & Reid.

Yep pretty much. They'll do exactly that just like last time they were in power.

To be frank I have no idea what the democratic agenda is. I don't think the lobbyists have yet told them exactly what it is.

Wow, way to spin the ass-pounding that the (D)s have coming to them this fall.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge how bad the D's are going to get 'ass-pounded'. The public has a really short memory. And with the Fed. dollars going towards road projects, proping up State budgets, and extending Unemployment out so as to keep The Masses from getting really upset, the Public might not be as upset as you think.

I wouldn't be surprised is Hillary ran against Obama in 2012. Highly unlikely for sure, but its possible. She has been distancing herself somewhat recently too.

Obama's popularity would have to be at GWB-2008 levels for that to happen.

I think that is a VERY real possibility. Everything he does pisses off the country even more. The telling stat is the independents which is what always decides elections. They see what Obama is doing to this economy and how much he is hurting them.

I would never, ever, bet against the stupidity of the average american.

Yeah, the Democrats have done an amazing job over the last 4 years in Congress. They should all be re-elected, that wouldn't be dumb at all.
