56k woes... How the heck can i get this to disconnect every time a call comes in??

I have had cable so long and am now forced to go to 56k and have been missing a bunch of calls because comp doesnt kick me off when I get a phone call... I have call waiting and I disabled it *70 , but I then changed it so all it does is dial without *70.. with *70 it just keeps ringing , and without it gets busy... HOW can I make it disconnect and ring so I get the darn phonecall 🙂

Anyway,

Thanks

And burn in hell 56k!

Catch-a-call

I believe most new modems have enough error correction, they wont drop the call even when they hear the call waiting tone. You can disable the error correction in the modem config in dialup networking.

Unless you live in the boonies part of Portland you should be able to get DSL or cable.

Yeah I know it doesn't solve your problem but postcount +1

Beautiful weather today, 'eh?

I would rub it in but there's a slight problem:
We're both married and heterosexual (at least I am 😉 )

<--- DSL baby!

ouch. owned.

*70 will disable call waiting, giving the caller a buzy signal. If you dont disable it, it just keeps ringing for the caller. Try disabling the error correction as already suggested.
