Hey Slappa, looks pretty cool but you should know that we don't allow self-promotion via weblinks here in the forums, especially nothing that seems intentionally designed to siphon web-hits off of the forums here.

Sorry! Link removed.

On this forum I tried to fit the full run and all the pictures here but it only allows for a max of 10 images so i had to delete some. I figured if I wanted to share the rest of my stuff I'd have to weblink to my blog.

Yeah what you will see people do is make a thread with their 10 images and then immediately add two or three "reserved" posts after the OP so they have time to add more images to each sequential post. That way you get to put up all 30 or 40 images in your thread.

Also, once you have posted here a minimum number of times (I think it is 10, maybe it is 100) then you get to enable a signature line for yourself and in your sig you are allowed one hyperlink to a personal blog.

Signature is allowed after 25 posts.

I see. I should have thought of that. Thanks! I will remember for the future.

Slappa,

I'm a vapophaseLS man myself, but my educational background involved lots of hands-on experience with cryogenics (DICE, LN2, LHe, etc) so I have always been interested in the application of cryogenic cooling to CPUs.

Your DICE pot, when you are running balls out at 5.5+GHz pushing those watts out into your pot how long does your DICE last? Are you dropping pieces of DICE into the pot every 30seconds or is it more of a refill every 10-15min situation?

And how cold does the CPU itself actually stay when running full out? Your heatsink (DICE pot) might be at -78C but the CPU is how much warmer? (-50C?)

The DICE lasts more on a 5-10 minute basis. The way I was running the mixture in my pot however, I crushed up DICE for surface area and only filled it to a certain level that netted the coolest temperature.

The cpu was around -68 at the coldest in the BIOS. When I was running full out it was probably around -64 or -66ish. Once I get a better pot to play with I will be able to do lower temps

Nice dice run and score from a small pot.
Your Amd Super Pi scores seem slow compared to Intel.
This is the first Amd Pi scores I have seen in years.
Are most Amd Pi scores this low.

Yeah I remember the 10 second barrier being broken like 5 years ago on a Pentium 4.

AMD processors need to push into the 6GHz range to break 10 seconds in superpi

The Phenom II X4 965 requires 6.8GHz to hit 9.984 s

The i7 record stands at 5.781 IIRC 6.9GHz :eek::eek::eek:

Nice run Slappa, seems you got an earlier batch, you buy retail?

I haven't had time to do extreme cooling yet but i have managed 4.4ghz @ 1.51V batch CCBBE CB 1023GPMW with extreme Florida heat.

I will have a better pot to test with soon. Then I'll expect better results ;)

You cannot compare AMD to Intel in SuperPi. It's more to compare chips of the same brand and class. For AMD my result is pretty blazing fast on dry ice.

Thanks dude. Yeah I bought retail but not even soon after it came out. Week 10 is generally the cherry week for thubans. My chip is pretty decent all around. It loves cold.

Thats a pretty good OC under those hot ambients.

I remember how fast amds 939 were now like years later no 10 sec pi wow.
Tried for 2 days to get a good 8 sec.1m Pi on i7.
Ended up with 9.15sec Pi at 44000 and 44000 uncore.

to OP, I doubt anyone is using 56k here. Most in this forum is probably on like cable modem if not fiber.

You never know.

It's also sorta an old habit for when I used to post big threads like this from way back

yeah, I remember back then when I was on modem connection w/ AOL, couple of these pictures would take 20min to display. Now if someone has a 56k warning, I'd be diving into the thread because it has pictures ;]

After loosing 6 usbr external 56 modems +3 cheap modems to lighting tress and no insulation on phone wire switched to OOL boost 10 years back.

I would love to have a caseless i7 for benching and dice but
I got 6 cats cause when both daughters got married in last 18months they only took 1 cat with them.
My PCs have so many 80 110 cfm fans the cat hair gets chopped up to tiny pieces then goes
through a floor fan and out a window + forced air ac heat. HATE CATS
