56k Modem not working help!

My piece of crap 56k modem isnt working. When it trys to dial and error pops up saying "hardware failure" when i try to update the driver it says something about code 10 error next to them modem also in the device manager under attached to it says not functional and acts as if i have no modem connected at all. It is a US Robotics 56k V 90 modem. Please let me know if you know how to fix this

Uninstall the modem. Shut down you computer. Remove the modem. Place the modem in a different slot and turn the computer on. Install the drivers and see if that helps.
