My answering machine Crashed. So i figure why not just buy a Voice/Caller-ID modem and set it up on the new server I'm setting up. Well I have broadband, so I'm not up on modems. And this modem will only be for Voicemail/callerid. No internet connection through it.This is what I'm thinking of getting...

The SupraSonic II with Shotgun technology integrates two 56K modems on one board for speeds of up to 112K! Plus, it's designed with the new 56K ITU standard (V.90) and K56flex for widespread ISP support. The SupraSonic II works over two ordinary phone lines to deliver this amazing speed without monopolizing the use of your second phone line. Featuring Voice Priority, the SupraSonic II "senses" incoming calls (voice, fax, etc.) and allows them to ring through on your second line. It also allows the user to manually release or add a second phone line to the Internet connection by simply clicking on a software button.
Features:
460k throughput
Flash ROM upgradeable
K56flex technology
Bandwidth on demand
Caller ID
Distinctive Ring to indicate modem or voice calls
Voice Priority for second phone line
Data Details:
Data Transfer speeds to: 56kbps
Supported Protocols: v.90 / Rockwell K56flex /v.34
Error Correction and Data Compression: v.42bis and MNP 2-5
Industry-standard and extended AT Command set
For speeds above 33.6 Kbps per modem, must connect to compatible PCM server
Fax Details:
Fax Speeds to: 14.4bps - v.17 Compliant
Compatible with Class 1 fax software. Works with Group 3 fax machines
Requirements
An IBM-compatible computer (486 or higher) and Microsoft Windows 95 <<<<<< I found info on Linux and Win2000 as well
One free 16-bit ISA slot
Two COM ports
One IRQ line
Two standard phone lines
CD-ROM drive

I have a single ISA on the server board to use,Or PCI if it makes a diference. I like that this is hardware and is compatible w/Linux and Win2000pro. I also like that I could monitor two phone lines with this one.Is this two good to be true?Anyone have this Modem?Love it/Hate it?If any one has any comments on Modem/Hardware-VoiceProgs/Software I'd love some advice-input. I've found this for $36 shipped. I'm missing calls.
 Help?

I use WinFax Pro. It works perfectly for voice/fax calls. I don't know if it will monitor 2 phone lines. Check the website for modem campatability and features.

Looks like it would work for dual fax...from site>>> "Ability to send and receive faxes in the background with up to two modems" I'll have my roommate pick up a copy from work(I'm not talking about stealing, he works for symantec) and I'll give it a try. Thanks for the help. I guess I'm off to order the card since no one said i shouldn't. Happy Cinco de Mayo weekend y'all:)
