56K Downloading fine but pages stop loading

I have 56k internet access and my downloading is fine......it stays constant around 6/7kbps. However whenever I browse, it just stops responding sometimes. I know its not the provides or the line by process of elimination. I am guessing its my software, but I don't know what I am supposed to adjust.....I have Windows 98. Please help.

No, I used to get that too. I think it's just something with the internet connection...probably a problem with lost packets or something.

I dunno, I never fixed it that I recall. I think it's something with packet loss though because back at the beginning of the school year when we were having massive bandwidth issues, I was getting the same problem on a LAN connection.

ModemWizard

Back then i when i was on 56k i had this program setup to find software problems and hardware problems on my modem. Works great. Give it a try

Found this on a search engine. Probably Free.
