56k -> 2 k-bite downloads, 600 pings, 28k surfing, -help-

I waited for 2 weeks, and it's still horrible. 9 out of 10 times that I log in my connection is extremely slow. Worse than a 28k modem. It gets worse and worse. Tried logging in and out 10 times, nothing. I'm using MSN (microsoft internet access). In 1 1/2 years of using MSN I have never had such problems. Sometimes my ping and surfing speed might have been a little worse, but not this bad. Yesterday I was able to get my normal speed after a dozen tries, it's still pissing me off, some days it doesn't work at all. It must be our phone line or MSN. I tried it with our second comp, same thing. btw, I'm using ME. I heard of people saying that if you re-config the Dial-Up Adapter it should work. I tried it on out second comp (/w Windows 98), didn't help. And I can't find the network tab with windows ME.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Dialup is notorously slow.

I believe it is your provider that is causing your slower transfer speeds and such. Are you connecting at 56k?

Your best bet if you want fast internet access is to spend the money and get a cable modem or DSL.

What else should I use next to Dial Up then?

I'm connecting at 48k.

I'm fine with my 56k, 170 ping in some games. It's just that something is wrong with it right now.
