5600 Ultra 128MB Vs ATi 9500 64Mb

Too close to call as i've owned both..well the ultra but my roomate has the 9500 64mb. I would honestly say the ATI is better. The ultra I had was decent but it still sucked ass. The ATI seemed to have better visual quality and was able to overclock like mad.
 
I beleive you can bios flash the 9500 64mb with the 9500pro bios to open up the other pipes and it becomes a 64mb 9500pro. This was a little known fact because the 128mb 9500np with "L" shaped mem config got all the press.

I'd still go with the 5600u man, unless you got the option to get a 128meg 9500np that you could softmod into a 9700...
 
What games are you going to be playing?
If you want to play any new games the extra 64mb of video ram on the 5600u will be very important.

The 64mb 9500 won't do as well with large textures and such, there just isn't enough vram.

If that's all you want to do, why do you want a new video card in the first place?

If I were you I would either:
A. Not upgrade.
or B. Buy the cheapest of the two cards, or even opt for a Geforce 5200.

Oh wait..sorry..back on topic. Those performance gains after the softmod are awesome but the lack of the extra 64megs of RAM could hinder you somewhat.
