Wondering if this 56 Wh battery would work in my Inspiron 5585. The current battery is 42 Wh at 11.4 volts I believe. And, if it wouldn't work, Why do they have it listed on a page saying compatible with Inspiron 5585? Thanks.

i would hope it fits, definitely looks bigger then the original battery but maybe it uses extra space. how about you open it up and look if there would be room to accommodate? what is the return policy there? i need to replace a battery on a dell i would also like to buy a larger size same as you.

I would want greater capacity in the same physical size with the correct contacts correctly placed.

Killster,

I don't think the size is an issue for mine with the exception of having to use the extra hd bay for the battery. I think the question is voltage. From what I've read you can't mix voltages as in the logic board is tuned to one or the other. 11.4v or 15v. The currrent 42whr battery is 11.4 and the bigger one is 15 I think. I will try to verify it with them and post back.

corkyg, I would too but this is the best I have been able to find with my knowledge. I think the contacts in the case align with those on the battery. The battery uses some from the hard drive area and maybe the ssd area.

Well, I bit the bullet and bought one. I never was able to get in touch with the company although the billing address is in China. Dell didn't know what I was talking about. Anyway, I'll post back after I try it.

I was wrong about the size and was able to get in contact with someone at the store who said it was not compatible with my laptop. I cancelled the order.
