Think I'll try it out on Monday. Currently use a 40inch TV and I wouldn't go back to a typical PC monitor.

I think it would be way too big but guess you would get used to it. It has crossed my minds since 4k monitors are way more expensive than 4k TVs and I want to go 4k. I think I will bite the bullet and get a good 4k IPS monitor though. 32" would be a sweet spot I think, would not want to go bigger. We got 3x 27" 4k at work and 1HD for daily tasks/email etc, I could almost get used to that as may daily use monitor tbh. But text is kinda small. Would maybe get eye strain over time.

Why only 1080p? If you're going to use a TV the only real reason to do that is 4k. Otherwise you don't gain any extra pixel real estate for the room it takes up.

Because that's the one he already has...not buying a new 1080 set...

I have a "spare" 40" 1080 tv that I've considered hooking up as a monitor...but since my desk would only give me about 2' viewing distance...I just don't think it would work too well... :p

It's just an old TV that's being replaced by an LG C7 65inch.

Current PC monitor is an old 40inch Samsung 1080p TV that's not brilliant.

I used a 65" as a monitor and it's perfect for PC use from the couch. :) 4k or bust though, you don't want 1080p stretched to 55-65"!

1080p won't look very good if you're too close. I'm using a 4k 55" C6P as a monitor and it's glorious. Set it to 1080p once because I wasn't happy with the fps in a game, it was horrid.
