Was looking for a solid 500-550w PSU and found this Sunbeam modular 550w psu@65$
This store has a ok reseller rating

Looked around at other sites including Newegg@75$
and decided it was a good buy. Then I read this review and it scored a 9. That pretty much sealed the deal with me. I picked one up for 77$ shipped with CA tax. Shipping for me was 7.50$
Looks to be one sweet psu, even comes with a 3 1/2in control panel.

Hope it helps someone out,

Jax

This is a good PSU, however a little bit on the noisy side since the fan is constantly at high speed. But stable rails.

With the provided control you can slow down one of the fans.

Yeah, this seems like a good competitor to the Enhance 5155gh at that price point.

Both have low ripple and rock solid rails.
Advantages of each:

Enhance:
-PFC,
-Higher efficiency
-Likely a little quieter.

Sunbeam:
-Modular
-Fan control

Basically, you can choose whichever suits your needs better and end up with a great PSU without spending a fortune.

Nice one Op!

Damn, in for a one. The temp display is an additional benefit and it matches my black anodized Al LianLi.

mine shipped too. Also it was good you linked the black because I just went to your link and ordered blindly :).

Damn, a 3.25" panel, both in mine are used up. Well I think I can take care of that.

This PSU has given me a lot of trouble. It's noisy. I had a fan die (Sunbeam sent me a new one no charge however). Now it runs at 40+ C all the time. Either there's something wrong with the PSU or the monitor. Overall I'm not so happy.

Just got mine today. Light years better than my old one. Its impressive. If you have a window in your case, and have never had a modular PSU. its almost worth it on looks alone. I was running a old 450w, and compared to that this psu is silent. I can hear my hdd's and cpu fan over it. Anyhow, 2 day shipping to my door and one nice psu= 1 :) Jax

Got mine, the front panel matches my case :D. Black anodized aluminum. Cool blue lights match my compter lights and soon to be a LIS2 POP VFD display.

I read some reviews of modular PSUs saying that the cords are very stiff and hard to bend inside small cases. Whats your take on this unit? I'm very tempted to bite.

On this one I wouldnt say they were that stiff at all. You should have no poblem navigating them around.

This is a top quality PSU I have had in a few computers, picked up the first one about 6 months ago. Haven't had any issues running up to a X1900XTX with it and a Core 2 Duo @ 3.2 GHz water cooled.

Quiet to me. Very stable rails, great finish, nice cable management. Haven't hooked up the 3.5" bay device, lazy.

Great PSU for the money.

Any idea as to the efficiency of this unit? I don't believe Johnny's review mentioned it...only that it wasn't highy efficient.
I'm torn between this Sunbeam & this unit.

Efficiency not high due to this not having Active PFC, if you're in the US, the Active PFC will do nothing for you. Get the sunbeam.

From JonnyGuru's review the effieciency is mid to high 70s depending on the load. I think either PSU will be fine for you. If you want higher effieciency and quieter get the enhance, if you prefer modular get the Sunbeam.

tough decision...the cost difference is negligible.
dunno if the enhance has the sleeved cables or not.
appearance isn't everything, but it's nice. :)

Not.

If you want an Enhance with sleeved cables, buy the Silverstone version for more money. :p

This site recommended a 287W PSU for the infomation I gave it. Am I overdoing it w/500-550 watts?
(C2D 6300, 2 sticks of ram, 2 SATA drives, 2 DVD R/W drives, single 7600 GT video, 5 USB devices, fan controller, 2-92mm & 2-120mm fans)
