its 550w and here is its Rails
+3.3V@30A,+5V@20A,+12V@41A,-12V@0.8A,+5VSB@3A

The pc im going to build

NZXT LEXA casewith front panel display
Gigabyte P35-S3L Mobo
Q6600 @3GHZ
2GB OCZ 2x1gb
XFX 8800GT overclocked
320gb Western Digital SATA

Both "good enough" and a better choice than the OCZ. Lucky you they were out of the OCZ's. ;)

Definitely concur, the VX550 is a very good psu with high quality components in the CWT design. It will power with probably at least 30-40% extra overhead in case of more power needs.

GA-P35-DS3R, great board...although a lot of the gigabyte p35's suit well depending on need.

I think ocz's issue regards their older psu's, which tended to have low efficiency, possible power issues at high load and high bling. Their newer ones look a lot better spec-wise, although until I see a good review from jonny's site or someone else, I have no real clue about. It's too bad jonny can't write anymore :(

It's sometimes a lot easier just to recommend a brand with a long history of good quality such as Zippy/Seasonic, rather than trying to explain why this specific brand(such as ocz, ultra, antec) has some good psus and some not good(especially older ones). Although Antec still gets plenty of mention due to their dirt cheap earthwatts.

It'll work fine. I use a HX520 with an overclocked Q6600 & 8800GT and everything runs perfectly.

They have absolutely horrible amounts of ripple:

By test 5, the ripple was 100mV on 12V3 and 12V4 and had exceeded 100mV on 12V1 and 12V2. By test 6, the ripple on 12V1 and 12V2 had exceeded 150mV.

ATX specification has an "allowance" for 120mV. Mind you, test 6 was very stressful, pushing the power supply to it's limits, but it doesn't change the fact that the ripple exceeded spec and this is the first power supply to date I have had do this.

What's wrong with too much ripple? Well, if the voltage fluctuates too erratically, it can over work other regulators used to provide Vcore to the CPU, GPU, etc.

Source for that quote.
